Each speaker in this year's lineup, established and emerging, is a leader in their field. To quote TEDxSydney Executive Producer Janne Ryan:

"Many of the ideas being put forward are very new and not yet known to the general audience. This means you will be hearing these ideas first at TEDxSydney 2011. This year's lineup is a natural evolution from TEDxSydney 2010 – but a completely new set of ideas and leading thinkers who are each stars in their area of expertise. The TEDxSydney2011 stage is showcasing ideas that will, and are, changing the world. The reach of their ideas is global."

Commenting on the performer lineup, TEDxSydney Musical Producer Jordan Verzar says:

"The two aesthetics I had in mind when choosing the artists were to try to reflect the values of the TED experience; that the performers would be innovative within their form and presenting ideas, through their performance that would indeed be worth sharing. The final line up reflects this, from a performance by one Australia's most significantly revered songwriters, Paul Kelly, to the international debut of Shaun Tan's Oscar® winning animation ‘The Lost Thing’ as scored by Michael Yezerski performed live. Tjupurru will be showcasing new and unexplored areas of sound through new technology via the Didgeribone and Facebass, while FourPlay will show what the future of the string quartet sounds like. From the world of rhythm, we'll be presenting the undisputedly innovative and skilled drummer, Ben Walsh, as well as a specially prepared piece by Sydney's own Synergy."
